I'm a philosopher from North Derbyshire, currently an Official Fellow and Tutor at St John's College and an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Oxford.

Before joining Oxford, I was a Birmingham Fellow and then Reader at the University of Birmingham (2013-2020), a Fitzjames Research Fellow at Merton College, Oxford (2011-2013), and a Jacobsen Fellow at King's College London and the Institute of Philosophy (2010-2011). I studied for a PhD at Birkbeck, University of London, under the supervision of Dorothy Edgington and Fraser MacBride. I also took a BA and MA in philosophy at the University of Leeds.

My philosophical interests lie at the intersection of metaphysics with philosophy of logic and philosophy of language. You can find out more from the papers on my Research page.

I've previously held an AHRC Leadership Fellowship for a project called "Higher-Order Metaphysics" (2017-2019), investigating the metaphysics of higher-order logic and applications of higher-order resources within mainstream metaphysics. I've also been a Visiting Fellow at ConceptLab and a Visiting Scholar at MIT. I currently serve on The Aristotelian Society's Executive Committee and as a Managing Editor of Ergo, an Open Access Journal of Philosophy.
