I'm a philosopher from Derbyshire, currently a Birmingham Fellow and Senior Lecturer in the University of Birmingham's Department of Philosophy. I've been here since September 2013.
Before coming to Birmingham, I was a Fitzjames Research Fellow at Merton College, University of Oxford, and a Jacobsen Fellow at King's College London and the Institute of Philosophy. Before that, I studied for a PhD at Birkbeck, University of London, under the supervision of Dorothy Edgington and Fraser MacBride, with assistance from Keith Hossack and Ian Rumfitt. I also took a BA and MA in philosophy at the University of Leeds.
My philosophical interests lie at the intersection of metaphysics with logic and language. You can find out more by reading the papers on my Writing page.
From October 2017 - September 2019, I will hold an AHRC Leadership Fellowship for a project called "Higher-Order Metaphysics", investigating the metaphysics of higher-order logic and applications of higher-order resources within mainstream metaphysics. I will be a Visiting Fellow at ConceptLab in May 2018, and a Visiting Scholar at MIT in Autumn 2018.
